Texas Politics

Author: drestrepo

As most people know, Texas is predominately a republican state. The last time a democratic governor resided in Austin was in 1991, two years after my birth. Not many Texans take the time to actually read about the candidates, they just vote solely on what party the candidate is from. The average person from Texas does not think of the internet as a place where they can catch up on politics. They use it for e-mail or purchasing items from the internet. A key for the future of the Texas politics relies on using the internet as a way to promote the candidates of any election.

Suprisingly, 2008 brings hope to democrats all across Texas. This presidential year the liberal citizens of the lone star state believe Barack Obama may have a chance to take the 34 electoral votes. Texan writer Paul Burka takes a look at the various dealings of Texan politics in the magazine Texas Monthly. In his blog, Burka relates the political workings of Texas at both a local and national level. Burkas internet blog makes life much easier for the Texan citizen and can be reached with just the click of a button.
